Bone scan found a "hot spot"

Hi, wondering if anyone could possibly shed some light to help one very stressed out mumma!
My 6yo sons specialist sent him for a bone scan due to chronic pain. The results came back with a "hot spot" on his tibia bone. They then sent us for xrays to see if they could find anything. The xrays came but inconclusive, he said that vine scans can pick something up much sooner than an xray can, and they want to see him again in 6weeks to see if whatever it is has grown/changed. He said they don't know what it is but it is something they are concerned about and whatever it is we've caught it early enough to watch and wait and try figure it out...
So silly me went to doctor google and I am very stressed out as now.. He has been through so much in his short life and this is just another hurdle for him! It sucks!
Can bone scans be wrong in that there is actually nothing there? Anyone with a similar situation/story? What was the outcome? Tia xx

Hey mumma! Please keep off the internet... It's hard to do! I know... But please just don't...it won't help.
We had a similar thing with my son's kidneys.. I drove myself crazy for what turned out to be a not so serious defect! Just remember that they have picked it up early, whatever it may be, so they won't let anything progress! Medicine these days is amazing and your child will be in good hands! All my love
