Hi ladies, I've just started on the anti depressant pristiq and it's a first for me taking this type of medication. I took the first tablet yesterday and had another this morning. My question is are there any ladies on here who have taken it and what were the side effects for you? I'm aware it's different for everyone but I feel like I'm buzzing! Does this last until it's built up in your system and starts to work properly or is this how it makes you feel all the time? I hate this feeling but if it will pass then I'll stick it out otherwise I'll go back to my GP and get something else. Thanks xx

Yep that's how it was for me at first and also it took me a VERY long time to orgasm while on it...but the buzziness wore off (sadly the long reach to orgasm didn't) but overall I found it a good medication. It really helped me a lot. When I fell pregnant I needed to get off it and haven't gone back on it since. But it did really help when I was at a very low point in my life.
Did it help with anxiety? Or was yours prescribed for depression? My mum is a mental health nurse and was surprised they put me on pristiq for anxiety and possible BPD. She thought they would put me on something with a lower dose as 50mg is apparently a lot to start off with.
Depression
That's a common side effect for me on a different anti-depressant. It usually lasts about a week for me and then goes away.
I am currently on it and have been for 4 months I have found it great and helpful I was experiencing server anxiety and panic attacks.
The only side effects I got to start with was a lock jaw that lasted two weeks.
At first I had trouble with orgasm but now I am fine.
However I do get server headaches if I am late taking a tablet. Or if I forget one
