Okay imperfect mum's I have a question about the morning after pill Is it effective if you take it during ovulation I had unprotected sex during my ovulation week I'm due for my period tomorrow and I usually get signs it's on its way a day or two before such as cramps and pains in my knees but I don't have any if that, instead I have swollen fingers and being a lot more emotional!

IF you ovulated and there was an egg there was waiting when the sperm was released, it won't "terminate" the pregnancy. It depends how long of a space you took it in ultimately.
Generally, there's three things the morning after pill does:
1. Stops ovulation temporarily PENDING you take it soon enough.
2. Stops fertilisation (pending it hasn't already happened).
3. Stops the fertilised egg attaching to your uterine lining.
With all contraceptions there can be flaws or it doesn't work, it really does depend on how long after sex you took it.
Remember, each cycle is different and PMS symptoms can change every single month, don't stress too much as it could just be your body reacting to a later ovulation if the morning after pill worked or something similar.
Its almost fool proof if you took it the night/morning after intercourse obviously with any birth control there's a chance its failed only way to tell is to wait for af or test ?
If you took the emergency contraceptive pill within 24 hours you should be fine. You won't get your period on the day it was normally due. I've taken the pill before and apart from a small bit of spotting it took ages to get my period. By memory it was a 64 day cycle. It's messed up my moods etc too. Hormanal contraception doesn't work well for me because of horrific side effects so that's what I put the emotional side effects down to.
I've had the morning after pill 3 times. No pregnancy after taking it.
Sometimes our minds try to convince ourselves were pregnant.
I always get pregnancy symptoms around when my period is due.
