New house bad feelings.

New house bad feelings.

Just need a little help.

Over the weekend I have just moved into a new house and after about a week I just can't seem to settle in. I am not comfortable and always feeling on edge in the house. I have just signed a 12 month lease and I am not sure if I am going to be able to last the 12 months. Can anyone please suggest a way to make it feel more like home.

Thank you

Is there something largely different about this home and your previous home making you feel such a way?

A few days is hardly any time and it's normal to feel a bit out of whack. We built our current home and moving in was a massive shock to the system. Some days I would go the wrong way home thinking I was heading to my old one because it was "comfortable" to do so.

Buy something new for the home, something you haven't bought before. Maybe an indoor plant or something similar :)

It takes me about a month to feel settled in a new rental. It takes at least that time to get rid of the sense and smells of the last tennants. Then just getting things where I want them to be. Getting my ornaments out in the right spots etc.
if I can getting pictures where I want them etc and jus t generally making it feel like mine.

I'd give myself a month to see how things go.
Possibly burn some of your favourite scented candles or spray some perfume around to make the house smell familiar.

In what way? I felt unsafe in my home. It was a nice street nice neighbours around but i ahd an awful feeling people were coming in at night. The house had no security and no escape and as a single mother i had bad anxiety.
i moved and actually the other day I realised i feel comfortable all the time. I sleep with the bedroom door wide open. Even if i hear a noise i dont bother to check. Thats why i remembered how i used to feel in that house.
Its no good. Take steps to fix it if you can - change locks, increase security, get a renter in, get a big dog, if you still dont feel safe then move.
