My 2.5yr old is yet to sleep thru consistently. He will sleep thru on the odd occasion, which I could probably count on my hands, so not too many times.
Bit of a long story, so to shorten it up: he isn't waking up for milk or anything, most of the time he's thirsty (have had his sugar levels checked) or from a bad dream. But I also feel it's not habit, he knows I'll come if he cries.
We have tried essential oils, homeopathic remedies, been to the drs to check him over. They said it could be muscle pain, so tried magnesium powder with no luck. Next step is a blood test to check iron levels etc. Also tried no naps, cutting back on naps, earlier and later bedtimes.
We aren't in a position to let him CIO, as we live with the inlaws who seem to disagree with our parenting style (that's a whole other story). The one time we let him cry for 10 mins, we got told that "this isn't normal", "he's must be ill" and that they didn't agree with letting him cry - please no comment on this. It also wakes up my 3.5yr old as they are next door to each other, So cio is just not an option.
I'm also currently 20 weeks with #3 and extremely exhausted, so please fire away with suggestions and tips?

Sorry some kids just take longer. My son didn't sleep through until he was about 3. It was just once a night and then from about 3 he started sleeping through. If he was waking up a lot (multiple times each night) then I'd personally be concerned but as its once a night and down to reasons like a bad dream I think it's just who he is. Id try putting a drink bottle next to his bed so he can help himself if he is thirsty.
He currently has a bottle with him in bed (the mission to find one that didn't leak was a looonnnnggg one). On a good night, once a night. Bad night 3-4 times a night. 99% of the time he's easy to sooth back to sleep, drink of water and a few strokes of his head/tummy and he's out again. Thank you for the help :)
Mine didnt sleep through until 4 and a half and still wakes very often. Not what i expected at all. Been waiting for it since 1 year old, I think that makes it worse than just treating it for what it is. Put a little bed next to yours & let him sleep there if it helps.
