Irregular movement of bub

Irregular movement of bub

Hi IMs,
I am 28.5 weeks pregnant with my first, and I have noticed in the last few days Bub has not really moved, at least I haven't felt it. For the last 4-5 weeks he's had a routine at night and early in the morning, I could feel him kicking like crazy, and now there's not really anything.
Is it normal for them to stop for a period of time? I had a scan a week ago and everything was fine, but this has happened since then. And who do I go to if I need medical advice - would it be the midwife I've been having my appointments with, or GP, or hospital? I just don't want to go in worrying if it's a normal thing so just curious if anyone else experienced this.

It could be perfectly normal. What sort of care plan are you on, are you able to contact your midwife directly? I'm pretty sure it's 10 movements throughout the day while you're awake and they will tell you not to worry but for your own peace of mind call your midwife or gp to have a chat. If you are able to contact your midwife directly she/he will be able to advise you on how many movements is healthy and whether or not you should duck in to listen to bubs heart beat.

If you are ever worried about bubs movements contact your midwife or if it is late at night call emergency and they will transfer you to the maternity ward to talk with a midwife. They'll prob ask you to come in and then will check the heartbeat etc. I had the exact same question for my obstetrician and this is what she said.
Also when I was worried I drank a glass of cold water and laid on my left side. This produced some movements so calmed me down a bit.

My first used to have slow days around the 25-30wk mark.
When he wasn't moving or I was worried I used to put an icepack on my belly for a few seconds and that was guaranteed to get him moving.
Never for more than say 10 secs and he be moving instantly

Drink some cold water or have ice cream and see if he/she moves after that. I had gestational diabetes with both of mind so I was always a little high risk for still birth (sorry, I don't mean to freak you out) hence I would constantly be monitoring the movements. I've been to the hospital on a couple of occasions so just trust your instinct, if it's not moving drink some cold water, if there's nothing still, just go to the hospital and get checked out. That's what they are there for!

I'd go to the hospital right away

Please go and get checked now at the hospital you are booked in to. There will be a number for birthsuite or the assessment unit you can ring. It may be perfectly normal however it may also be an indication for further investigation. Your baby's movements are the one thing you as a mum-to-be can monitor to ensure all is well. Always get checked if you are concerned at all.

Have you recently had the dtap or flu shots?

Please go to the hospital and get checked out, for peace of mind at least.
