Hi ladies
I have a question for anyone on anxiety tablets.? I found out late last year that I suffer anxiety when I first had a panic attack since then I have seen Therpist and regularly my doctor but the Therpist just isn't helping because I just can't calm myself down with the methods she is giving me.. I am just a real stress head/panicky/ocd it's wrecking my life . My doctor has asked a few times if I want medication my answer every time is no due to in still breastfeeding my 8month old baby boy. But I think it's time I worry about me and not breast feeding which upsets me because I'm not ready to give up but the thought of my baby getting it in my breast milk is a high chance only minimal but still.
Anyways question ladies on tablets? Has it changed your life for the better? Does it effect anything in your life sex life ? Weigh gain? I understand there are different drugs and everyone is effected differently.
Thanks xx

I started on medication, it helped a lot i didnt stay on it for long but it really helped unravel the big mess at the start.
My child is currently on medication. Its the last thing i wanted but when nothing else is working, you cant just leave someone suffering. The way the paed explained it is this - at the moment the anxiety is so high that nothing else is working ans theres no point testing or trying to see what else is going on because the anxiety is so high. The medication is a low dose just enough to take the edge off, so we can try other techniques again and then work on what else is going on.
Sounds very similar to your situation.
Medication made a huge difference for me. I don't always need medication but I did for several years.
I did not gain weight. It did not lower my sex drive. In fact I was less likely to binge eat and I was more likely to want sex because I wasn't stressed.
Medication can make a big difference BUT it's not one sized fixed all approach. If you get a prescription make sure you keep returning to your doctor for a checkup. Usually for me it's about a fortnight to a month after starting the medication. If you are having bad side effects go back immediately. It took me about 3 types to find what really worked for me. No really bad side effects, it just didn't feel right. It's not unusual to feel light headed for the first week.
The combo of meds with a therapist made a massive difference. The meds didn't stop me feeling anything they took the edge off so I could practice the skills from the therapist.
Take the meds for a long time. A lot of people stop taking the meds after a few months because they feel better, but that isn't long enough to retrain the brain and so then they relapse badly and end up on a bad cycle.
