Just wanted some ideas on what to do. I'm due to give birth in 8 weeks with my fourth child and don't have much support unfortunately. My mum lives in a different suburb and doesn't drive. My MIL lives close by but is responsible for looking after another grandchild. My issue is school drop offs and pick ups. DH will take two weeks off work to help with the other kids and school pick ups but that's it! My school aged child is only 6 so I don't feel comfortable leaving him at the gate. Rain, hail or shine I accompanied by his other siblings walk him to his class and wait for the bell to ring. With winter being the months ahead of my birth I don't want to take Bub out at 2 wks old. really don't know what to do. What did you fellow mamas do when you gave birth?

I had a newborn and a child at school. I always brought the newborn with me and dropped my older child off to her classroom. It was hard but it's just what I had to do. Bub was fine.
Can the older children do it without you?
I'm also due in 7wks with my 4th. I have 2children at school (yr3 & prep) and one at daycare 2days a week. Just have to rug bub up and suck it up! Part of being a parent!!
I think the poster is aware of
whats involved with being a parent. She's asking for helpful advice for the wellbeing of a newborn baby as surely being out in the cold during winter can't be healthy for a newborn baby. Caring for the bubs wellbeing is also part of being a parent personally!
I had my 4th baby half way through my eldest's first year of prep (1st yr of formal schooling in Qld) she was 5 at the time, almost 6. I got a baby carrier, got to school early and got a park close by so we didn't have to walk across roads and take all 4 kids (5, 3, 2 & newborn). My kids all know to hold hands, it's something Ive drummed into them since they could walk so it worked well.
Hubby for the first week did the pick ups/drop offs and then I did it from then on. My mil lived a street away but I preferred to do it on my own, it's just something I learned to do.
I didn't allow other ppl to hold bub and actually havin the carrier made ppl not even ask.
Yes I just did it right from the start. Rug up and take bub with you. dont stress, i think i worried it would be hard too but it wasnt so bad
