So i am considering studying nursing (EN) after years of being a sahm. I have a few questions for anyone that has done this course or is a current EN.
Is it easy to find a job as an enrolled nurse without experience? (vic)
How did you manage work experience part of the course with kids?
I have 3 children 2 in daycare one in school. I need 400 work experience hours. They are from 7am-3.30pm (i can manage that one) and also 2.30 pm til 10pm. I am single and have no one to look after the kids during that time. Is it nessasary to have work experience at both times or can i request only the 7am_3.30pm slot?
The course is 4 days a week 9-4 plus 8-16 hours of studying from home is needed per week. Did you cope with this ok with kids?
Was after school care expensive?
Pros and cons of working as an EN?
Any other insights you can offer would be great.
Thankyou!

Ok so I am currently studying to be an EN at the moment. I am doing this online with 2 week blocks of residential school. I only have a 3 year old he is in daycare 2 days a week. I am finding this so far quite easy. Next my last placement was 3 weeks consisting of 140 hours. Who gave you the placement times? I wouldn't be relying on those times as it is often up to the facility that is able to take you at that time and the shift hours can always vary. Also where I am studying them can send me up to 40 minutes away for placement depending on where they can fit me in might be something else to consider.
Next yes it can be hard to find a job after studying if you look at job adverts you will see alot of them want atleast a years experience working as a en the good thing about placement though they may really like you and offer you a job once you finish studying. I am now employed as an Ain through where I did my last placement once I am finished they are going to hire me as a EN. A friend from work who is en EN told me she found it really hard to find work in melbourne she ended up moving to qld before getting work.
If you are looking at Div 2 it's pretty simple and the workload isn't much really. Whilst you're studying you can gain employment at aged care facilities and similar, the hours are really flexible in that instance.
I'm an R.N
I wouldn't recommend EN. There is very little scope to advance and the pay isn't great. Hard to get a job too. So R.N
