Splitting medical costs with ex partner

My sons both have a new found medical condition that will cost $800 all up to a minimum, $1600 roughly being the maximum. My ex (bio dad) doesn't pay anything but $300 month child support, I've never asked him for any money for the kids but I feel like this bill should be split as they are both our children?
Is it wrong to ask him to split the medical bill?

If you have doctors certificates and test results contact your solicitor/lawyer and figure it out from there :)

You can ask, he can refuse and be a dick about it.

You can then apply through the child support agency to have exceptional medical needs taken into account. The stress of asking for more money in my situation was just not worth any potential financial assistance we'd get. So if there was any DV etc I'd rightly or wrongly let it go for the sake of my psychological wellbeing.
