Single Parent. Home School. Centrelink.

What happens with your centrelink payments when you are a single parent & you home school your child? At the moment, when your youngest child turns 8 you are taken off the pension & put onto new start allowance plus family tax benefit A & B. And you have to either work or study 15 hours per week to be eligible for those payments. Because I would have a home schooled child & no care options, would I be exempt from the 15 hours work/study? I will be calling centrelink of course but thought I'd ask for personal experiences first.

Probably not. This was a problem for myself. I had to have an exceptional reason to be granted an exemption and that was my son was severely disabled and sending him to school was not an option due to his unique disability/care needs. I was only granted an exemption while we waited for my carers payment and my sons child disability pension to be approved.
You could still homeschool and work part time if you are able to use family daycare.
