I'm a first time mum with a 2 weeks old and I'm getting concerned with her pooping. I have been to the doctors and they say she is fine. But wanting others experiences
She is exclusively breast fed and it has been a week and a half since she has done a bm. Has anyone else's babies been like this and any home techniques that helped you to get things going? Doctor has told me to massage her bottom when changing nappies but so far hasn't done anything.
She farts like a trooper and they stink if that helps in any way.
I will be going back to doctors if she hasn't done one in the next couple days just wanting to try and get things moving myself
Thanks everyone x

The one thing my midwife told me was that when it comes to babies and poo anything goes! My little man only poos once a week and sometimes longer (also exclusively breastfed. My first baby was mixed fed and that was totally different again). My mum always says that I would go 10 days between bm as a baby. Does she seem uncomfortable or like she has belly pains? Had she started doing the yellowy poos instead of the black tar ones that newborns do? When my little man starts getting uncomfortable I know a poo is coming and some things that help are; baths, bending his legs up to his tummy and out straight again, laying over my leg on his tummy and rubbing his back, holding him lying along my arms facing me and his legs up along my belly. Watch out when it comes though because it's bound to go everywhere!
I don't think she seems uncomfortable or belly pains and the last poo she did was brown in colour she did all the black and green ones at the hospital.
Thank you for your advice I will try some tomorrow :)
Yep, my bub was the same and he's 12 days old. The Doctors, Lactation Consultants and some Midwives were concerned, but my main Midwife came over and said if he's already pooed, more will come, they will just be explosive.
Sure enough, we had 4 or 5 explosive poos in a row hahaha! Just remember, breastfed babies cannot get constipated, so if he's pooed before, its coming. My Lawwwwwd its coming! X
When my Bub was about 5 months old she got really constipated. nothing had changed in her diet, anyway I took her to the chiropractor (who we had been seeing for another reason) he pick up straight away that she was having problems with her bm. In a day or so she pooped, but then nothing again. Anyway I then realised it was the jumparoo, stopped putting her in it and everything went back to normal. Your bubs only a newborn and has been scrunched up inside you for 9months, maybe she just needs an adjustment. Just a thought
Haha yes ! It'll come and it'll be big so be prepared !! Spare clothes !!!!!!
My son was like this too sometimes 10 days between poos then all of a sudden we'd get one every feed for a few days then go back to none for ages ! If he starts getting uncomfy like others have said keep massaging , infants friend was another helpful one for us !! Helps with the wind but also ended up helping g it come !!
