I am at wits end with my 4 year old son. He is a very loving and cute child. Except it's like he lives in a fantasy world and I don't mean like an imagination world, I mean when he will ask for something & I say no he will hear that I said yes. It's like he doesn't comprehend anything. He's very advanced with his milestones. Walked at 9 months, talking a lot by 14 months so on. For example he will come & ask me for a pack of chips and I will say no, he will then get excited because in his head I've said yes. I'll will then explain I've said no he will have a tantrum but 5 seconds later come and ask again as if nothing has happened. And he will do this for hours on end. It's so frustrating and I don't know what to do anymore. He throws tantrums that can last hours. Two days ago he threw a tantrum that lasted 3.5 hours. The only way to get him to stop is to give him his own way. I have tried everything. I don't give in to him either but it's exhausting. He has just started school and his teacher has said he has a problem with listening there too. He has been assessed for ASD & GDD because his brother has that but there is nothing. I can't deal with it anymore

Get him assessed by a speech therapist. Speaking well isn't the same as being able to understand language. A speech therapist can help with that.
Be prepared to get the ASD diagnosis reviewed every few years. Higher functioning children don't often make criteria until older.
