Hello, just wondering if this has happened with anyone else. My son is 2 1/2 and speaks fabulously and age appropriately. However he has recently started to grunt or not pronounce his words and just regress and talks like an 18month old etc. I keep reminding him and if he doesn't speak properly he won't get what he's asking for, so he can still speak and pronounce words fine just he's choosing not to.
He goes to day nursery 3 days a week and they've just had 3 new children join (9mnths/2 yrs) I've heard that when a child gets a younger sibling they too can regress a bit on purpose or something(?) Could this be why? Is there anything I can do to stop it? His 'baby' voice is really grating and really annoying too and it's driving me insane.

I've heard one of my good friends talking about the same thing. Kids see or hear someone else doing something and they start to do it. You could have a word with the child care and get some input from them. You no he can use his words so maybe it's an attention thing? Or just being a copy cat as kids do.
It's a common but annoying phase. You are handling it correctly. Talk to his child carers about following through with what you are doing at home.
