15mth old not walking

Hi all, hoping to get some advice. My 15mth old son still isn't walking. Normally I wouldn't stress about something such as this, as I know babies do things in their own time but I'm needing some re assurance that this is normal. It seems all other babies we know that are the same age have been walking for some time now, and people are starting to say to me 'oh is he still not walking' which is beginning to make me worry. He walks around furniture, often letting go and standing on his own however it seems like he's been doing this for such a long time now. He walks when holding his hands etc and I'm practicing/ encouraging him as often as we can. Just wondering if this is normal at his age or if I should be concerned?

I wouldn't worry about what normal is. If he is doing the precursors to walking and you haven't noticed anything odd about the way he gets up and down, then he is probably just mastering those skills before moving on. And to the comments, just point out that you aren't running everywhere after him!! Once they start walking, its a whole new ball game lol!

We were told by everyone our lil boy would walk early, he crawled early, pulled himself around on furniture early, but didn't actually walk till he was 14 months ( which was a week before our lil girl was born) our lil girl sat on her bottom and didn't move till she was 8 months old, then at 10 months old she got up one day and walked not looking back.
They are all different, he will walk in his time

Completely normal! Do not even stress, he is showing all the right signs of walking around furniture, often letting go and standing... he will get there, in his own time.

If he is still not walking leading up to his second birthday I would recommend seeing a doctor to make sure nothing is wrong. But otherwise, give it a couple of months. It is a whole other ball game once they start walking, so my advise would be to enjoy it :D Won't be long now!

My daughter only walked at 14 months, he will get there some things just take a little longer, I worried about this as well and now look back and wish I hadn't compared her to other kids her age, they are all different.

Completely normal :) my son is just gone 17 months and only took his first steps on Christmas Eve. It's scary waiting but it will happen, doctors told me it was normal for boys to take up to 18 months to 2 years. Don't stress mamma he will do it when he is ready

I think the fact he is standing, sometimes without holding onto anything, cruising around furniture, walking when you hold his hands definitely means he is on the right track! Sounds as though he has all the skills ready for walking but just doesn't feel quite ready for it yet. Try not to worry or compare your baby to others, easier said than done I know! My daughter is 15 1/2 months old, she has only started standing in the last week, so is still a while away from walking yet. When she was 12 months old she wasn't even crawling, so I got referrals to our paediatrician who checked her out and concluded she was fine. I still wasn't convinced so I got our GP to refer us to an Occupational Therapist, and it was from that point that she finally got moving! There isn't anything wrong with her, she was certainly a bit slow in crawling & standing, but now she is a little rocket when crawling about! I had to stop comparing what she was doing to other babies of similar age, what her brother had done by this age (she is my 2nd child) etc. If your son wasn't doing anything by this age, that is no standing, cruising etc it would be concerning, but in my non-medical opinion I think it sounds like he's just taking his time! Plus he can probably do all the things he wants to do without walking by himself. I hope this gives you some reassurance, please try not to worry if people comment about his lack of walking independently, milestones are a hugely variable thing!

My son didn't even get on his feet by 15 months. He was a bummer.
