Abnormal pap smear

Abnormal pap smear

I am not really sure what I am asking here. I am about 6 weeks pregnant, and I am 25. Two weeks ago at the GP I had a flu shot, a Pap smear and just a check up due to finding out I am pregnant. I just got a letter in the mail, saying that the doctor wants to see my about my recent Pap smear and now I am freaking out! Can't call until Monday.. I guess I'd just like to hear some experiences of this nature, I'm trying to tell myself it's probably not bad!

I had something similar - different circumstances but I stressed and stressed & it turned out to be a minor concern. The doctors just have a duty of care to tell you about findings, however minor. Don't worry, if it was terribly serious they would have called you asap, not sent a letter. I actually did get a call & it still turned out to be minor. Relax and distract yourself.

I got a letter to go in and it was to get the result that all was fine... Just hungry for another appointment fee without actually doing any work.

I had an abnormal Pap smear when I was pregnant. They just repeated the Pap smear after I had my son and it came back normal. They made me have 6 monthly ones for awhile just to make sure and they all came back normal. I'm alive and going strong with normal Pap smears 22 years on.

My last pap smear was the first one that has ever come back normal, every one before that was abnormal and because of that I was getting them done every 12 months instead of 2 years. Nothing ever resulted from it, it was just something minor that they wanted to observe. I had 2 Colposcopies (probably spelt that wrong) where they took samples for testing and both times came back as nothing serious and would just need to be checked every 12 months. My last pap smear was last year and finally for the first time it came back normal so now I'm only needing it every two years.
I understand how freaked out you would be I was the same, best just to not worry until you know the answer, easier said than done I know!

I would be more worried about the fact the flu shot insert says " not recommended on pregnant women "
Good luck!
