Obstetricians and costs

I am after reviews/experiences with obstetricians in the private health sector.

How much were you out of pocket after insurance was maxed out?

Were there any costs you didn't realise you'd incure?

Where do you even start? I'm not sure if I should research obstetricians first or join health providers first. I am aware of waiting periods.

Any advice/direction would be greatly appreciated.

My last experience in the public system cannot ever happen again. It just can't.

If you're after a private ob in having a baby you do need to find the most cost effective health cover that covers maternity first - then look for recommendations on obstetricians in your local area when the time comes. Mine was affordable - approx $2k out of pocket but I had straight forward normal deliveries with a cost effective dr. Some doctors huge amounts! Good Luck!
