Ill just say i let him use his last name and always regretted it.
Stick with yours.
He is not entitled to automatically use his, even in marriage, although many men think they are.
i believe the default choice if you cant agree should be the mothers name.
Not married and I hyphenated my sons last name. In hindsight, I actually wish I'd just used his dads surname. Keep looking, you still have plenty of time. Panic in 21 days.
There is literally thousands of names, and its hard to make a suggestion when we dont know what kind of names you (or the dad) like. Traditional names? Modern names? Unique names? Something related to your family history?
Just grab a baby name book, read through it and write down every name you think is a possibility and then compare your lists with each other and see if anything matches.
My advice - try not to get too hung up on finding the 'perfect' name. Sometimes people need to compromise. My husband named 2 of our children, with no input from me as they were names he always wanted and i saw how important it was to him so i agreed. I named one and we agreed on one. At the end of the day i love them all equally. As they say 'a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet'
As far as last names go- are you guys married? Or plan to be? If you strongly want your surname and he strongly wants his then hyphenate it.
We want something uncommon but not to put their we both have large family's and finding it hard to find names that's arnt used
We r not married and both have kids from other relationships and my child wants to change from his dad's to mine so see it makes sense to do this Bub as mine and if and when we marry change them then
We both come from large family's which makes it hard as lots of names r used
Not married and my child wants to change their name to my last name so it makes sense to do baby as mine and when we marry to change the kids then but his child from another relationship has his so he is saying both his kids should have his name but that means me and my 2 all have different last names
My son is Oscar then has my mums maiden name as a middle (surname could be used as first name) his fathers surname as middle name (100% a surname only) and mine as a surname. We normally drop his Fathers surname except for offical paperwork. My reasoning was thankfully we both agreed to him not having a hyphenated surname and then my child can choice to hyphenate it later on if he chooses or swap around surnames. We are no longer together and my son loves having grandmas other name lol, Opa's name and Grandads name because they are his family.
Do what suits you, but this might be an alternative to a hyphenated surname

I used my last name, never regretted it. Otherwise hyphenate last names.

Hes being selfish. Dont repeat your first mistake again. Unless you plan on changing yours, go ahead & change yours & your first childs now.
