I've had a gender scan at 19 weeks and was told i was having gender 'A' but since the beginning of the pregnancy ive had dreams and been referring to baby as gender 'B'....the technician seemed pretty certain about gender 'A' but i cant shake this feeling leaning towards gener 'B'....honestly im happy with either 'A' or 'B' but i don't want to settle on a name, bond with that gender and buy a particular colour for everything and baby come out the opposite gender haha
So i guess im asking has anyone ever had a gender scan and it was wrong?
Can gender ultrasounds be wrong?

I 100% believed I was having a girl. Dreamt of this baby girl. Carried like I was having a baby girl. Apparently I had a glow like I was pregnant with a girl. Picked a girls name but not a boys because I felt deep in my heart I was having a girl!
So I didn't find out because I felt like I knew. Then they day of baby's arrival, they handed me a BOY! Haha!
Gender ultrasounds can be wrong...but I'd trust it over intuition.
Same thing happened to me lol
Scans can be wrong but so can intuition. I'd pick a boy and girl name etc and go with gender neutral baby items for now.
I think you'll be more crushed if it turns out to be not the gender you intuited than you are saying. Be very careful.
If you dont want to risk disappointment i would just go gender neutral and wait.
i had two scans and both they said they couldnt see clearly, so they dont just guess unless theyre pretty sure, but its not 100% and they have been wrong.
anyway when you get your baby you wont be able to imagine it any different.
Scans can be wrong but it's rare. I'd still trust scans over intuition any day though.
My mil got told my husband was a girl from her scans all through her pregnancy but she felt they where wrong and when he was born out came a boy all the scans where wrong
I have not one but two nephews who were according to gender scans were meant to be nieces! So yes they can be wrong but I'd have another scan closer to due date to confirm as at 19 weeks it can be tricky to get an accurate result, I have dreamt I was having girls with all of mine and felt within my heart I was having girls but they are all boys! Lol. so for truth and certainty I'd say just double check with another scan -congratulations
In utero, abundant hormones make the foetuses genitalia swollen, and therefore, it can be hard to tell what's what down there, particularly if baby is not in the perfect position. That said, sonographers understand the importance future parents place on the gender assessments made and are therefore pretty careful with making a call on gender if they can't be pretty sure. If you really need piece of mind - get a 3d ultrasound done. You can have this done commercially without referral from the medical system. Then you'll know for sure!
