Autism:
My son was super energetic and had absolutely no fear compared to his peers. If you turned your back for a second he'd be scaling book cases etc and he was only 1.5years old. He hardly slept compared to his peers and could climb out of his cot before his 1st birthday! Keeping him safe was a fulltime job.
By the time he was 18mth I'd noticed him lining pencils up in colour order from dark to light. He'd break everything and anything. He could do puzzles well above his age level. He could pick a toy up and put it back in the exact same spot he found it (within millimetres on the same angle etc).
By two his speech wasn't definitely delayed and we were at the peadiatrician, by 2.5 he was formally diagnosed 20 years ago.
These clues were relevant to my sons diagnosis but not every child with autism will have the same early symptoms. For some children the first signs are no imitation skills, other children don't develop speech, others it's no eye contact.
If you have concerns about your child please see a peadiatrician even if your child's symptoms/behaviours don't match what you'd expect.
My daughter is ADHD but the dreamy side of it for the most part. As a toddler we always thought she was just stubborn and as she got older we thought she didn't know the difference between wrong and right. But as she got older, started ballet and then school...that was when we started to realise something wasn't right. She did know the difference between right and wrong, she just could not control herself. When she got caught! Well the range in emotions would give you whiplash!! At school she COULD NOT focus!
We are on the right path now, but there are still challenges ?
Every child is different. My son has mild ASD. There's an app created by a university doctors called ASDETECT. Check it out.
