My husband and I would like to take a big leap and live/work overseas, it would be just us and our 6 year old son. We have no other ties apart from our mortgage (we would rent our house out while away) and we want to do it while our sons young.
My question is where do we find jobs overseas? Hubby would be main income earner. We've been looking online but concerned about being conned etc. Don't want to end up in some horrible place.
How do you connect with other ex-pats? Find a good school?
Negotiate benefits?
Thanks Ladies

Which country do you plan to go to? Make sure you check the visa and work requirements in each country as even with a job offer it may not be legal to work without some more hoops to jump.
If you work for a multi-national a good way to find employment is through your company job ads. Friends moved last year to the U.S. this way.
A colleague of mine found her job in Canada through professional publications, that are related to our profession, it's common in my profession to travel overseas to gain experience etc.
Tell us what hubby's profession is and we will be able to give you better advice ?
I've just returned from living in the uk for a year , even with a UK born partner we still had to go thru a long and expensive visa process for myself and our 10 yr old daughter as I was over the age limit for work visa and my partner had to be my sponsor . I did find work over there but not as a nurse as the child care was almost non existent , and don't expect to get any gov't benefits for anything unless you are a permanent resident or citizen !! As far as schools go , the only one you will be able to get into is the one in your catchment area , unless you want to pay a truckload for private !!
