Private house lease, have no water

Hi, I have just signed a lease to rent a house on the 9th of november, when we signed the lease we asked who was responsible for the water bill, to which we were told it would be our responsibility, no problem with that, the house also has a rain water tank which we have now used, when I contacted the landlord to find out how i could switch to mains water i was told i can't that the house runs soley on rain water, now I am on day 2 with no water, Do I have any rights as far as there needing to be a supply of water?

Contact your states tenancy group. This is an unusual situation. If it wasn't a rural setting and on mains water the landlord pays the base of the water bill and you would pay the excess.

What state are you in? Did you sign a lease? The info for tenancy group should be on the lease or in the booklet.

There should be a switch on the side of the tank or pipes (or around abouts) to flip it over the mains.
I also suggest contacting the would-be water company about whether or not the property is set to a mains switch and how to change over etc, and your state's tenancy association (depending which state you're in QCAT, VCAT etc)
As said above, it is a bit of an unusual situation and I don't see how it can be legal for you to be left without water as from my understanding it's a priority and anything related to it is considered an emergency

That's only if there's mains water as well, in the post the landlord says there is no mains water

She has a water supply, it comes from a tank, if it doesn't rain, fill it

If you are in Qld and it was a normal rental it would be your responsibility to have the tank filled up. My mum only had access to the tank water which she paid $160 to have filled every couple of months.
