Heavily considering a move from Sydney to Wellington.
In my research so far, shipping containers are not that expensive ($2k to $6k for a half container, depending on weight, for a self-pack) and take usually 1-4 weeks to get from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane to the North Island. We were seriously considering going "scorched earth" and getting rid of pretty much everything, then starting again over there, until I saw how much certain large appliances cost in NZ. Would be cheaper to take them with us.
If you're taking pets, Jetpets came highly recommended to us from a friend who moved to the UK a few months ago. Other than the vet paperwork (you have to do that, but they'll give you a list of vets near you who can give you the proper export papers), they do everything for you. They quoted me $3k to take my 3 cats.
As for legal documents, if you're Australian citizens, there's really nothing much you need to do. NZ's government pages are super helpful. https://www.newzealandnow.govt.nz/why-choose-nz/compare-new-zealand/aust...
If anyone can add to that, I'd be most grateful!
I would be moving from Sydney to Auckland. My whole life is here. I have a shed full, 2 bedrooms (one playroom) and a kitchen worth of stuff. I'm guessing a full container coz of size but would weigh as much. The father of my child lives in NZ and I have absolutely nothing holding me here, i cant afford Sydney but NZ seems affordable. Just scary as i still live at home. I've been considering the move for 3 years now, but would really like it to become a reality. No pets to take with me. A lot of the places I've researched come out and do a quote (but im not ready to tell my family im moving) so was hoping to get a rough idea of how much it would cost). I have saved a few pages that have seemed helpful. Just wanted to get some personal experience. Thanks for your response!!!!

This looks promising.
