First pregnancy - Where to now?

First pregnancy - Where to now?

Due for my period today, took a left over test, not thinking much of it (been trying, but have PCOS so I wasn't confident)..

POSITIVE!!

This is my first pregnancy, and my partners (he's still in shock!), and I am wondering where to go from here? I have a doctor appointment in a few days.

What's after the first appointment? How do I not get overly excited just yet, in case the worst happens? What are the appointments that are needed over the coming months? When and how do I chose/meet the doctor/midwife delivering my baby?

Plus, I'm overweight, how do I safely lose weight during pregnancy? Is that even possible? I's more worried about our health and possible complications such as gestational diabetes rather than looking good.

Also, what are some things that people just never tell you about pregnancy?

Any help and advice is appreciated!

Congrats!!! Your doctor will do a blood test and send you for a dating scan around the 8 week mark. They will also do some comprehensive blood tests. How often and by whom you are seen depends on if you wish to go public vs private, so have a thing about that. If you go private think about who you want to manage care. As for weight loss, modest weight loss is fine, but go and see a dietitian (APD) as soon as possible for professional advice - ask for a referral at your doctor. Also make sure you get onto a pregnancy multivitamin asap, stop using neurofen and have a look at listeria guidelines but your GP can advise. Best wishes! Very exciting!

Congratulations
Enjoy your pregnancy and your bundle of joy
Before you know it your baby will be all grown up so make every minute count
8 week scan is next
We have ours in about 3 more weeks to confirm a sac has developed and
To listen to the babies heartbeat fingers crossed
We are going through Ivf this will be the second embryo
Ivf is extremely stressful but just like any pregnancy we worry
So just try to relax don't over think the possibilities
Keep your mind busy doing puzzles etc
Take time out go for a nice dinner out or movies do something different to break up the week
ATM we are having blood tests twice a week to check our HCG levels and they are rising nicely so that means so far so good
We have another appointment At 12 weeks that is called the Nuchal scan
Next one 18/20 weeks morphology scan
We are going through the public system we have a hospital close by with antenatal care
Your gp will guide you don't be afraid to ask
Start Elevit asap
As for diet
Eat better start now
Fresh fruit and veg along with small portions of protein
Eggs/yogurts are good
just go for fresh you Will feel better for it
Walks /yoga
Plenty of water
Plenty of rest
Hope this helps a little
Try not to stress
All the best to you both
