Nursing and bad at maths is it possible?

So im wanting to do an nursing course (en) but im terrible at maths! Even on the enrolment form they had some super basic questions that i struggled with. I have looked online at a few free maths courses but they all just teach you how to do it on paper, which isnt to hard but obviously i would need to be able to do this in my head for work instead of getting out a peice of paper to scribble down a sum?? Any ideas of how i can develop skills to do work out sums in my head? (Any good FREE courses ect ) or is a nursing career really not suitable for someone who struggles with maths?

I've just finished my diploma of nursing. I'll admit that I am pretty good at maths. Once you have the formulas for drug calcs, it's really quite basic. There are calculators galore anywhere there are meds in the hospital etc. It really is just basic maths, it's not scary. I suggest a tutor, all it takes is for one person to explain it the correct way and it will all click. The maths is the easy part of the course, the placement is a killer! 400 hours (10 weeks) of unpaid full time work. I'm starting my bachelor next year and thats 850 placement hours ? it's crazy, but worth it.

My son has spent a fair bit of time in hospital and the nurses are always scribbling bits and pieces on paper. When he had morphein, they were calculating the dosage together, very carefully, I think it was even under lock and key and a second nurse had to approve it. I am sure you will be absolutely fine, don't let that stop you, if you want it bad enough, you will learn it. If you said you wanted to be an engineer, I would have my doubts lol but this, I am sure you will be fine. Good luck and good on you for bettering yourself.

Maybe some free math apps, start with one's aimed at kids and work your way up
