As much as we see fit with what other expenses we have to pay at the time. Just buy whatever you want and can afford, don't worry about what other people spend. There is no wrong or right amount.
We don't have a set amount. Every year is different depending on a few factors. If we are going away for Christmas we usually spend less on our children. When we are home we spend a little bit more. This year the kids are getting a swing set and I've spent approx $300 each on 3 kids. That will buy them 5 presents each. I do love spoiling my children at Christmas but more importantly I have taught them the gift of giving also. Every year my children donate gifts to charities. They absolutely love both going through their old toys and selecting special gifts for the less fortunate children and adults.
Everyone will have a different experience in regards to what they spend on Christmas. There is no right or wrong ever! Just spend what you feel is right for your family.

I try and stick to the
"Something they want.
Something they need.
Something to wear.
Something to read. "
Those gifts are from Santa, then a few from us. So I don't go overboard.
One year, I spent less than $100.
This year, now that my eldest is almost 4, things will be more expensive because we'll be getting him a bike.
There is no "right" amount.
Just stick within your means. Don't go all out on expensive gifts if it's not in your price range.
My partner earns a decent amount of money ($120K +) and we spend less than my sister who's on Centrelink payments. She doesn't know what excessive is, whereas we do.
She's always out of pocket for a few months after.
Buy within your means.
We never have a set amount. this year its about $1000. My son doesn't get much through the year so at xmas we splurge a bit. He gets everything for the next year... Toys, clothes, educational items etc. I use the xmas sales to save on money and layby everything so I can pay it off. Then he just gets top up items through the next year as he wont really need anything............ There is no right or wrong here, everyone does it differently
For the gift about 30 to $50. We do fun things, we cook fun food, Christmas at our house is not about the presents. Financially we could afford to spend more on presents however that would just be more to take to lifeline. Along with the surplus of things friends and family get for my kids.
We don't have a limit they get something they want (new scooter or a big toy like a dollhouse) the essentials ( clothes new shoes and swimmers) and then maybe a new book or did or toy, and if we can afford it a school bag and new lunch box. for stockings we do socks, undies, lollies, textas, pencil case, and a few cheap little toys from Kmart ($5 or under), then there is a family gift, something for us all to enjoy ( a board game, cricket set ect) that's it. We try to limit excess as it gets too much and Christmas looses its magical quality, my friend is the opposite each of her kids get $1000 of presents and it's so overwhelming to even look at lol I buy throughout the year so I can be prepared and not have the big bills come Xmas but at the end of the day as long as you can afford it and your kids can appreciate it that's all that matters
We have a 2 & 4 yo and they get 1 main present. One is getting a dolls house and the other is getting a car track tower (both bought on special). Then we give them what we call the box - it has a new set of pj's, a change of clothes, a DVD, a book, colouring book and pencils and a small toy in it. I buy all this stuff on sale during the year as we are on one wage and don't have a lot of money to spend.

lot of money.
My kids only get toys on christmas and birthdays and occasionally if we go on a family holiday that year, so we try and buy presents they will enjoy all year and what we soends depends on what they are getting.
They are 6 and 3. This year they are getting bikes and a few smaller presents for their stockings so this year will probably end up around $250 - $300 each including their bikes.

Around 150 for each child. They are quite young though. I find that amount doesn't go far these days! Whatever amount you are comfortable with :)

I've got four kids and usually spend 300-500 each child. This usually includes a big present, 2-3 smaller ones and their Christmas stocking.
