14weeks pregnant with torn placenta

Hi, I'm currently 14weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with a torn placenta (This was after an ultra sound that showed the baby is fine and still getting what it needs). After some intense bleeding I was placed in hospital, and have now been released and am put on bed rest. I will know more on Friday once I have another ultrasound to see if it is healing. Can anyone shed some light on anything I could be doing to help heal it? Apart from taking it easy. This whole wait and see thing is incredibly nerve racking!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I didn't have a torn placenta myself, but I did have placenta previa. I haemorrhaged at 16.5 weeks, and spent the next two months in hospital. After leaving the hospital I spent the remainder of my pregnancy on bed rest. It seemed like an eternity, but I am so glad I listened to my obstetrician and to my mothers intuition. I now have a strong healthy 5 year old, stay strong and keep us posted.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I started thinking from about 7 weeks I was miscarrying & everything was fine, apparently placenta previa, strenuous exercise & sex caused the placenta to lift was the uterus as it was close to the cervix. I was advised that in most cases as the bub gets bigger, then the placenta frequently moves away. At 32 weeks, a scan showed this had happened in my case, and I delivered naturally. (and no2 implanted quite high).

I know Friday is an eternity away, however we have medical science at your side, but take it easy, enjoy the rest now . . . . because in not too long a future you wont get the chance :-)
