Anxiety Medications

Hey ladies! What's your view on anxiety medications?
I have been suffering from anxiety pretty much all my life but only been diagnosed recently. I am still new to the world of anxiety and learning different techniques to soothe myself.
I have never tried any medications but found myself thinking about trying them. I have my better and worse days.
What's the pros and cons you found? Any side effects?
Thank you all beautiful ladies, you're always so helpful and supportive!

Do some reading on breath. Thats the key. Basically your body feels fear and goes into fight or flight, producing physical responses in your body. You can tell your body that everything is ok and it can relax again by deep breathing.
Before i knew this (and when i was in a big bad hole) i took medicine. Felt much better and stopped taking it after a few weeks. But also saw a psychologist and made other big life changes too like evicting the cause of it and recovering.

Medication has its place and I've needed medication at times and other times I don't. It just depends how bad my anxiety is.
Usually if I'm in a bad place my doctor or psychologist will suggest medication. Medication for me doesn't make the anxiety go away, or numb me, it takes the edge off of the anxiety so I can employ the techniques I've learned and learn new ones.
I only use medication when my anxiety is so out of hand that I cant use or learn the techniques and I can't function.
If I can employ the techniques, and practice the techniques and talk myself down with the techniques I find medication is unnecessary.
In my early days I found medication was definitely a necessity because of what I described above. Now because I have the skills I can turn things around very quickly.
