Hi Mummas! How do you learn to be a 'grown up' and do 'grown up' stuff?!? Lol!! :-)
Growing up my mum and I were never close, so I could never talk to her about anything and now that I'm in my early 30s, nothing has changed.
I feel like I'm stuck in a 'mum rut' and recently tried to get myself out of it, and give myself a mummy make-over, but had no idea where to start. I have never been a big make-up person, because my mum wouldn't allow it while I was growing up. I have never learnt how to choose it, wear it and apply it properly, so I gave up. I usually just buy what's on special at the supermarke and apply it terribly. I just buy my 'mum uniform' of leggings and baggy tops from k-mart. I recently went into Myer to give myself a ' frumpy mummy make over'. I didn't know where to start!! So many different make-up counters, products, brands, colours... It was overwhelming so I went to the clothes section to buy myself some nice clothes that didn't include leggings and baggy tops! I picked a couple of pieces in an area that I thought looked nice, then I noticed a few older ladies shopping in the same area!! So I put down my clothes and walked out :-( Where do mums in their early 30s shop, that's not too young, but not too old?? Where are the shoe shops, that you won't bump into your nanna there?? And where do I start with the make-up?? Brands? Products? Learning to apply? What do other mums use? I also need to update my 'mum bun'. How / where do I learn new, easy to do at home styles, that I can do myself? Don't even get me started on my eyebrows... They haven't been in shape for a while :-( And what is the new fashion with eyebrows at the moment? Everyone I have seen at the Plaza lately has beautiful, naturally looking colored eyebrows! But when I use my Coles, on special, eyebrow pencil, it looks like my 3yo drew on my face! Where do you learn all this stuff?? Help!! I suck at all this grown up stuff :-(

They biggest God sent is YouTube they do makeup and easy hair tutorials. I wear a lot of witchery, portmans, Bardot
Go get your makeup done in a department store or shopping centre. Usually there is a fee that you get back if you buy something.
I then go buy cheap versions in the same colours etc to replicate the look. Makeup takes practice.
Do not adult. It's a trap, leave it for the adultier adults. Works for me lol. Nah seriously, I stick with a bit of nude by nature mineral foundation, a good mascara and a lip gloss.
Hi im, im with you! Im so out of the loop still doing what i did when i was 18.
Heres what i think: target and jeanswest and city chic for clothes that fit and feel nicer than kmart. Dont go on a spree youll end up with a heap thats not you, just pick up a piece you see and love.
Shoes at payless. Cheaper but comfy and flats and sandals that suit my style.
Mix up budget with one or by two expensive things to look good and feel good.
Face: go and get a wax and your eyebrows done or get eyelash extensions. Youll look done up daily without doing much. Also get your nails done.
I also bought an eyebrow kit and had same result!no way i would go outside with drawing on my face! I was told to go to the makeup girls at myer, or book a makeup artist to give you a tutorial (which i havent done). Same goes for this contouring thing!
I think the best tip i got was to not go out and try to create it all in one day,but to pick up things one by one and stick to what you love.
You tube for hair and make up. I'm early-mid 30's and it's only been the past few years that I've started wearing make up on a daily basis and attempting to do things with my hair that isn't a mum bun or pony tail.
Clothes I usually buy from Target, H&M, Forever New, Portmans.
Shoes Novo or Betts.
I buy make up from Kmart or Priceline. Recently bought the $7 mascara from KMart and actually prefer it over the $20 ones I've been using
I love crossroads!
Depending where u are located you could maybe treat your self to a personal makeover session with a professional so they take you to all the different shops and help you choose modern clothing for yourself...i no in cairns they have a lady named geraldine?
