My nine year old (only child) seems to have trouble making friends and then once he has made a friend has trouble keeping them. School keeps saying he has trouble with social skills but yet we dont seem to go anywhere with it. He has been assesed and there is no autisim or anything. He plays football and loves outdoors. It really hits home he has no friends when school holidays are on us. Breaks my heart really and i dont know what to do to help him.

My 8yo daughter has this problem.
She really struggles to make and keep friends.
She just doesn't get along with other girls. They don't have the same interests thats she does.
She has been seeing a psych which has helped with her attitude and how to cope at school.
Chin up Mum, kids these days seem to have so many dramas that were never around when we went to school. Just reassure him that it's not him, he is special and has alot to offer and sometimes it takes longer to find the friends we are looking for..X

It may be worth ringing around (pediatrician/psych/speech/etc) as I know some places run "how to socialize" group sessions for kids.
