Child Food Allergy/Sensitivity/Intolerance Testing

Our 6 year old daughter has sporadic periods of times (days/weeks) with speech, articulation, behaviour, all motor skills reduced, concentration, sleep, eczema, lethargy, then returns to perfectly normal for a period, which I believe to be from some type/s of food. Allgery/Intolerance/sensitivity like possibly eggs, soy, dairy, gluten etc (to put it broadly).

We've seen the GP and have had 'general' tests which were all normal. I spoke to him about seeing a naturopath for stool/hair testing but he says I'm wasting my time and to see a Paediatric Specialist for further testing. Whereas I'd prefer the natural path as it's less invasive.

The episodes are really weighing her down and We can see her changing as a person. We're really worried (we don't let her know that).

Would love to hear from other Mums who have been down this road and what type of practitioner was successful for them.

Note:
We've tried elimination diets and we can't pin point the problem.
She also has been cleared for any mental health issues.
Her home/community life is loving, stable & routined.

Thanks

Find a good kinesiologist!

I wouldn't rule out a paediatrician. There are some pretty kooky cyclical disorders out there.
My own son has a cyclical condition called kleine-levin syndrome. It comes on suddenly, changes his sleep patterns, makes him cognitively impaired, makes him lethargic amongst other things and then he magically recovers.
Now I'm not saying by any means that is what your daughter has, just saying if you want to see a naturopath fine, but you should also see a paediatrician. They have a far wider knowledge on paediatric conditions than naturopaths and you'll kick yourself delaying treatment if it turns out she needs a doctor.

I'll be blunt - naturopaths are quacks. You'll pay insane amounts of money for them to tell you nothing. If this was my kid I honestly wouldn't care how "invasive" the investigations were, I'd just want to get to the bottom of the issue. See the paediatric specialist. Has she had MRIs etc with the GP. This sounds neurological, not allergic.

I've gone both roads and I keep going back to a Paediatric Specialist and an Allergist. We live outside of a city so we have to travel but I've found it so much better. Everyone suggests in the interim we see a naturopath but for a child I have found it useless.

We've been living with allergies now for 4 years and a naturopath only really helped food wise, as in what to substitute for our allergies.

Allergists and paediatrics are also Drs and if you need an allergy action plan for anaphylaxis then a Dr is required to sign off on it and issue epi pens if required (that's if it is an allergy/anaphylaxis and not an intolerance).
