So little miss almost 8 has misbehaved at school since day 1. Now in year 2 and so so far behind. She has a short attention spans and doesn't seam to understand basic things. Her academic level could be improved but it's being stopped by her foul attitude. She doesn't care. Her teacher gets attitude and flat out refusal to even start work. She is consistently late to class. The teacher keeps her in, she misses out of fun Friday activities, has to pick up rubbish ect. She sadly doesn't have real friends and doesn't care too, happily runs around with anyone. We've tried rewards and consequences for unacceptable behaiver and she hasn't improved at all. Is it time to be really tough? Any suggestions. She has been seen by the guidance officer and she pretty much only suggested fish oil tablets for her concentration.

She needs a proper assessment with a paediatrician and child psychologist. Don't sit around on public waiting lists. I'd go private, I was on a pension and always managed to swing it somehow.
Rule out any disorders, the number of kids who go undiagnosed until there teens is scary. Girls especially often slip through the cracks.
Some of things you described sound like a couple of different disorders.
As a teacher aide and a mother of an 8 year old daughter with ASD and ADHD the least you can do is get her assessed by a psychologist and Paediatrician for peace of mind. If it turns out that she does have an underlying reason for her behaviour she will then get the help with the school and you at home once you have a better understanding and you will see her grades and behaviour improve. Best of luck it is a hard time but these kids are so smart and can teach us all so much. They just need to be understood.
She may be struggling with the work load my son was like this I though it was him being naughty fast forward to year 3 now and he is acting out badly during class won't focus he has a bad attitude with life in general ?
Are these things happening at home does she follow instructions well at home ?
Go see a good Gp get all things checked as in vision , hearing and what ever doctor says to get checked
Then go so a Pediatrician for behavioural issues and see what comes of it ?
It may be a stage thing as in testing boundaries but it may be something else
