How to organise our Will

Ok ladies, this might be a long one so please stay with me...

My fiancé and I are looking at doing our will and have no idea where to start. We have been together 6 years, I have 2 children from a previous marriage who are 10 and 7, we have a child together who is 2 and he has a son from a previous relationship who is 18 who he doesn't talk to after many failed attempts.

We both have a fair amount in Life Insurance but don't know how to distribute it. He is adamant he doesn't want his son to get anything and wants to leave it all to me and the 3 kids.
My question is would this work or does he need to leave his son something because he could contest the will? Also, could his mother contest the will? They were only together a couple of years 18 years ago.
And also, do we need to simply do a Will up using a Will Kit or do we need to go to a solicitor to do it? If he leaves him something, can he come back and contest it anyway? Hate thinking about these sort of things but need to do it.

Go and get a will from the post office and get a will kit. Just use it as a guide and write your will. His money can go to anyone he wants but his son may be able to contest the will. If he doesnt want it to go to his son due to his ex then you can always leave it in a trust. But best thing to do is write out what you wabt snd get it check by a solicitor.
