Passport and court

Hi mums,
Has anyone been in the following situation, and if so is there any advice or info you can give me:

So I'm about to file in the federal court, papers to get my sons passport granted.
His father has refused to sign it plenty of times, (we are separated) I tried to get special circumstances at the passport office I have also appealed twice.

So now I'm finally down to taking my child's father to court to get the passport signed or granted without his signature.

I have a few questions too:

What would the likely outcome be?
Do you have to be present in court?
Do you need a lawyer present if you have to go to court?

Thanks all :)

1. The outcome will depend on where you are going, your reasons, what sort of things you have holding you here (to make sure you come back with the kids), whether you are a flight risk etc, how much involvement the father has in their lives and the reasons he has declined to give permission.
2. Yes, you will have to be present in Court.
3. No, a lawyer is not needed although I would certainly recommend getting advice from one beforehand, even if you don't ask for them to appear for you in Court.
