Angry son

Angry son

My DS is 8, has real anger problems and I just don't know what to do anymore.
He's such a beautiful, sweet, kind and caring guy and I feel like I've tried everything to help him but I'm out of ideas.

He's the second of 3 kids and is well behaved at school and his teachers have said he removes himself when he can feel himself getting overwhelmed but it's the complete opposite at home.
He gets violent, yells and screams, hits walls and throws things.
I've tried punishments like going to his room, chores, disclusion from what ever we were doing, talking, exercise like going for a walk outside to calm down, music, a cuddle etc.
Is it just middle child syndrome or something more?
Any suggestions are welcomed and very much appreciated.
Please no nasty comments, I really am out of ideas.
TIA :)

It's time for a peadiatrician to rule out anything underlying. It's common to see this cycle in kids with high anxiety levels.

This sounds like my 9 year old, although my boys behaviour is the same at school maybe though not to the same extent at home. This year he was diagnosed with anxiety and Oppersitional Difiancy Disorder (ODD) with a pead and a physiologist we are slowly making an improvement in behaviour but it takes time. Routine helps a lot along with praises and rewards for good behaviour, and our dr puts it praise praise praise then praise some more. Good luck I know how tiring and stressful it can be on all family members. Remember to have time for yourself aswell.

I remember my brother having similar issues as a child, he was the middle child as well. My mother ended up taking him to anger management classes which seemed to help immensely.
He is now 28 and was only recently (about 2 years ago) diagnosed with ADD. I don't think that was ever looked into when he was a child.
