Punched in the face
My husband was caught cheating 18months ago. I have been blamed for this as far as his parents are concerned.
After the breakup i met with his mother and father at a park so they could see the children, my father in law abused me and punched me in the face in front of my children. He also tried to take the children from me at the park.
Since then the parents threatened to take me to court over access to the children which I derailed by encouraging the father to apply for an order to see the children so they are safe. The father has made the effort only once and not made consistent contact with them in 18 months, is constantly in arrears of minimal child support, and was never capable of looking after them on his own even when we were married. My kids are 3 and 5.
I know this potential order is for his parents benifit to see the kids. I am worried that they are a flight risk, and he is obviously agressive. They are still slandering me to mutual friends.
Has anyone been in this situation before? I have had extensive legal advice and from a barrister I was advised that if this went to court the grandparents would never be granted with unsupervised visits. Should I agree to an order?

I think you should, ask for a no-fly as well. I hope you went to the police about the punch and had him charged
What the actual f did i just read. I hope you pressed charges and included the children in an avo. Do everything you can to keep them away from you and the children.
its not clear what the order says. If the order says they get full supervised visits once a month then if agree. If not go to court!
Thank you so much - great advice! I went straight to police (with in laws following me right to the door) the police officer said and AVO would be thrown out of court because he is a 68 year old man, first time offender..... He was charged with being a public nuscience which the PO told me is admitting guilt? So I could not press assault charges because you cannot be charged twice for the same offense... The barrister also advised me to put in a formal complaint about the police officer.
