My daughter has long hair she kept getting them in the end i had to go throught her hair strand by strand with conditioner. Now every new shampoo and conditioner i buy i put 2mls of tea tree oilin the whole bottle shake it up the oil is a prevenative. Also going to school her hair is braided every single day.
As a child i had hair that went down to my knees, every second day i was coming home with nits, my mother got so sick of it but i didn't want my hair cut, we found that conditioner mixed with water was the easiest way to get the eggs out, be also found something amazing to prevent them, get a empty spray bottle put two cap fulls of tea tree oil and one cap full of lavender oil and fill the rest up with water while doing her hair in the morning spray the hair damp before do it up, hair spray also works very well at keeping them off.
Conditioner, not comb and tweezers
The lice are becoming resistant to the marketed treatments. Try them, but i never waited for the recommended next treatment time, i just kept combing my girls' hair every day to get any that were missed. Keep at them, and you will eventually win. Good luck
