"Online relationship" real?

I'm wanting to ask a question without sounding absolutely ridiculous..
Please don't laugh at me I know I must sound like I'm dreaming.
As a 27 year single mum. I have been single for 3 years. I have spent the last 3 years working hard to improve our life's after leaving a pretty terrible relationship. I now study, and have my own business. Life is good!
I had given online dating a go. With no luck. I really, just simply did not find myself interested. However, I started talking to a guy over seas ( America ) thinking that, it'll just be that, talking.
But then we spoke, and laugh.. And now we talk daily & FaceTime..

He wants to book a flight over to visit..
Am I totally ridiculous in thinking this could actually be real ?

I want to believe that, anything is possible.. But, is that realistic ?

I think it can be! Perhaps meet face to face and see what comes of it :) long distance is hard but might be okay for you!

They can be real, but it's important to protect yourself!
Don't send money, and make it clear if he is going to visit he stays in a hotel. Don't buy plane tickets for him.
The same safety rules apply that do for Internet dating. Let someone know where you are going, when you do meet him the first few times, meet in a public populated place.
And have fun.

Perfect advice! Definitely don't send money. If he asks for money for tickets or anything else, he's probably scamming you.

Thankyou :) absolutely would never send money or buy tickets and when he first mentioned coming over I was like yikes what do I say does he think he will stay here. Then he asked me what hotel I recommended etc.
and also this is one of the reasons I FaceTime, so I was sure the picture is the person etc.

Thanks for great advice!! Xx

I met my husband on a online dating site. We started chatting online and phone calls then went out to the movies and after that have been together ever since. Just be sensible with things like the first few times meet in a public place that sort of stuff. My i can deff say online dating can be successful we have been together 11yrs this yr.

It can be real and there can also be fakes.
Make sure you don't give money or help pay for flights over and make sure he has accommodation booked and not stay with you and your child.
I had a friend when I was in high school and her dad met a women in America (this was back in dial up days!) and then they after a few times visiting ended up getting married and he moved over to America and has been there ever since.
I met a guy from Canada, he came over and it was a total disaster.
Just make sure you be careful and why not give it a shot! you never know!
