At what age did you start brushing your kids teeth? If they are too young wont they just swallow the toothpaste? Lol First time mum here, so don't laugh at me too much!!

Hey not a silly question at all
I started with a toothbrush and water as soon as they had teeth, my youngest is 18mths and I have just started using a milk teeth toothpaste with her. I put a tiny bit on and brush but obviously she can't rinse so I then wash brush and do again with water on brush to get paste out of mouth but it doesn't matter if they swallow it because it's such a small amount and designed for kids under 3
We buy our 2 yr old toothpaste from the baby shop that is safe to swallow. It comes in flavours like blueberry etc too so it tastes good and makes them want to brush their teeth!
They don't need paste until they're 2 or so and can spit but brush with a soft brush (can find in the baby section of supermarket) or wipe with a washer as soon as they get teeth.
You can start brushing from the time they have teeth. But no toothpaste until 1+ years old.
And half a grain of rice is the amount of toothpaste an 18 month old should be having. (Took my then 18 month old to the dentist and that's what they told me).
Toothpaste isn't necessary until 2+ though. But you can use it earlier. I find a child is more likely to enjoy teeth brushing if there is a little toothpaste.
