I'm thinking about getting the rod in my arm for birth control. I can't take the pill. I've tried every one over the past 7 years and it doesn't agree with me. Now I have a baby! How much does the rod cost and does it have any bad effects. I'm feeling scared about getting it but I Do NOT want another baby any time soon.

I had the implanon. It doesn't hurt to get inserted, I had mine taken out after 6 months. I had nonstop bleeding the entire time, bloating and horrible skin.
Just like the pill it works differently for everybody, the majority of people report their periods/ pain are reduced with some not even having a period on it.
Speak to your doctor about your worries I'm sure they will put you at ease if you don't like it you can always get it removed
I had the implanon, it lasted 6 weeks, as I had a major bout of depression and suicide attempt after it was inserted.
Personally if your sensitive to the pill, I'd try something like the nuva-ring that you can take out and insert yourself. It has a smaller dose of hormone released into the cervix. It was like inserting a rubber band instead of a tampon. You can also control the timing of your periods with nuva-ring like you can with the pill.
I have the rod in and it's making me pack weight on. Getting it out cause I've put on about 5kgs in three months
I would say that if you have reacted badly to other pills then the implanon won't be much different, but you never know, it's different for everyone. Everyone I know that has had the implanon had it taken out because of the side effects.
I'm the same, I have tried so many different pills and none worked for me. I gave up and went without for 3 years. I've just recently tried again and am taking Yaz, so far so good.
I see a naturopath regularly and she has helped me out majorly with my hormones and other issues, I'm taking a hormone support supplement alongside the yaz which I feel is making a difference. Perhaps something to look into if you are having trouble. She also helped me to get the hang of the 'rhythm method' (basically keeping track of ovulation etc.) which is how I went 3 years without any contraception and no pregnancies. The only reason I went back on the pill is because I was getting bad acne otherwise I wouldn't bother.
I had it in for 7 months. I bled the whole time, bad cramps, gained nearly 15 kilos and got really depressed. It's not something I would recommend. I had tried many pills and couldn't have them. I am now on Yaz and take it at night. Sleeping on it, doesn't let the side effects bother me. Good luck!
Best thing I ever did. Had it on for the full three years.Didn't really get proper bleeding but always did a pregnancy test if I wanted to.
Got the implanon taken off so I can convert to the pill and ease off so we can have a baby.
I am now pregnant and once bub arrives I'm going back to it.
I had lots of problems with the pills but no issue with the implanon so you never really know until you try it
