Help because i am lost

Im after some legal advice i have been accused of assult police tried to arrest me i explained to them i had no idea what they were talking about and i was happy to go to the station with them however i was bringing my children with me they didnt take me and i havnt heard anything since i know the person who is accusing me of asulting them we have never got along from the day we met our personalities clashed cought them out lying on several occasions cut all ties and kept my distance. A few weeks ago they invited themselves to a party i was attending after being told to leave numerous times by everybody there i got in a argument with them next thing im being accused of assult police said they have significant injuries. I will be fighting this with everything i have i have done nothing wrong i guess my question is how long does it take for the police to get back to you? If it goes to court (im thinking worst possible outcome if they get away with it) what would my conviction be? A bond? Iv never been in truble with the police before but i know people who have lied and gotten away with stuff like this before
Also hopefully the truth will come out what will be they be charged with? Surely they wont get away with it
