Middle ear infections

Middle ear infections

Hey Mums. Mr 2 has had about 6-7 middle ear infections in his time. 3 in the last 3 months....April, May and has one now. Spoke with doctor and he refuses to give me a referal for a ENT specialist. Should I get a second opinion or is it 'not enough' in one year to get a referal?

What are your experiences? How old and how many ear infections did they have before getting sent to a ENT specialist.

Thanks

It can't hurt to get a 2nd opinion

My son was getting bad infections every few mths and after 5th we saw specialist and got grommets done

A GP shouldn't decline you a referral. They should give it to you & leave any subsequent treatment to the specialist. A mother's intuition is right most of the time & that seems like an awful lot of infections!

I'd be demanding a referral or changing GPs

I would get a second opinion... my doctor did the same thing for our then 4 year old for her tonsils( they were massive!) It wasn't till she really sick and was stopping breathing at night that I got the referral! Keep pushing!
