Discharge in early pregnancy

Discharge in early pregnancy

Ok so after 6 months of TTC I finally got a positive pregnancy test..by my calculations I'm 5 weeks 4 days so it's pretty early on. I've been having almost daily a brown discharge ( sorry for TMI)only when I wipe and on occasion a sharp stabbing pain mostly on my right side. I've just been to the Dr for my bloods and referral for a dating scan but she advised me to wait for the scan until I'm about 8 weeks. I'm so scared that I'm going to miscarry and I'm just so much on edge, its all out of my control.
I'm not sure what I'm asking but I guess some reassurance from others who have experienced this and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy would be great!
Thanks so much.

I remember in my second pregnancy I had this and our son is now 4. I had quite a lot of blood (bright red) as well. The stabbing pains across the abdomen were usually the muscles moving to accommodate all the movement going on there.

Get a blood test and see what your hcg levels. If they are rising you are fine.

If you get lots of red blood, clots and pain, present yourself to the emergency department as I would class that as a miscarriage.

Hi hun, my second pregnancy was like that... It turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy in the fallopian tube... Which is very common these days. But it can be life threatening to you, so please if the pain gets worse go to the ED. Unfortunately, with ectopic pregnancies it cannot survive :( are now TTC for our third pregnancy. Sorry hun not trying to scare you, but its best to be aware as your life is important xoxoxox go back to your Dr if you feel concerned, they can always do an early scan if symptoms persist

Can I ask please how many weeks were you when you first saw symptoms to when the pain got worse?
My discharge is very inconsistent and for the last 4 days I've had none..my hcg levels were 9000. Do your hcg levels still rise during an ectopic pregnancy?

Yours could be something completely different but I too was losing brown blood early on in my second pregnancy ... I seen my obstetrican about it & he did a scan that showed the placenta was forming on top of the cervix opening & he concluded that being the reason for the bleeding. The bleeding for me stopped at around 15 weeks or so.
