My barely teenage daughter needs to have a Pap smear and STI check done.
This is something she is very much against..
She was sexually assaulted unprotected for a long time.
The person responsible is in prison awaiting trial.
This is all very new.
She's in counselling and is getting all the help she can.
She needs these checks done. She also needs to be on birth control (she is showing signs of over sexualised behaviour towards boys at school) and I don't know how to make this happen.
All we are being told is to give her control and power as much as possible but we get tears and clamping down when we broach this subject.
I'm going to have to force her into the clinic. This breaks me. I can't do it. How can I do it?
I can't keep waiting or putting it off. It has to be done.
He already gave her cold sores..
I don't know what else she has going on.. She's so young.

I just want to send you a big hug. No child or parent should have to go through this.
Keep communicating with the experts. Is it better just to treat for STIs which often are s tablet rather than having invasive testing? Discuss these options with the GP.
My son who doesn't tolerate many medical tests (has to be gassed to get blood) the doctors decided for his mental health and to lower invasive procedures for certain illnesses it was best to just treat as if he did have the illness as he would take a tablet no problems.

I'd probably tackle it, instead of forcing, make all the appointments and then just be behind her, that it has to happen and you're there with her and for her. Even if you have to make the appointment numerous times before she goes. Maybe take it one issue at a time and make appointments first to discuss what will happen to answer her questions. And spoil her before and after. Poor darling.
