Bachelor of Primary Education or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education?
I have completed approx. one year of my primary education degree but am considering switching to early childhood. I would get some credits for study I have already completed. My main reason for wanting to switch is because I feel that I am much more likely to end up being employed with an early childhood degree (lower primary school and early learning centres). Ideally I would like to be a kindergarten teacher (3 to 4 year olds).
A little background, I live in south-east Queensland and am a single mum to three kids, 10 years and under. If I did a BA of Primary Education I would not be able to do a country service so have heard that I would be unlikely to get stable employment as a teacher in this area. Looking for advice, experiences, opinions (shared in a kind way thank you, lol). Cheers :)

Isnt there a lot more money in teaching than childcare/kindy? Also how do daily hours compare? There'd be a ot more cleaning up in kindy. And do you get School hols? If youre working as a casual teacher you can select only prep or prep to 3 so youre still with the early years, but in better conditions.
It's probably more of a gamble to get permanent work if you do primary. But - primary teachers do get better pay and hours. You'll have the flexibility to work in primary or pre school if you do early childhood. However, if you really do want the pay and working hours of a primary school teacher you're more likely to be hired if you're primary trained.
I'm a primary teacher. I was targeted from uni (exceptionally lucky! But I really did work really hard at uni), and I've been working for 7 years. I'm now on the top pay scale ($95k per year). Not bad!! ?
I have no knowledge of what pre school teachers make. Maybe someone else can answer that.
Also if you do primary, if you get tired of the littlies you have the option ready to move to older years, or specialise.
