Hi ladies
Just wanting feedback on those who have used duromine please. Pros and cons. How much you took/side effects/level of exercise/success or fails!
Don't need nasty comments about exercise or healthy eating - my life is different to yours.
Thank you

I lost lots of weight, couldn't sleep, hardly ate, soon as I stopped the medication I gained all the weight back and then some. I wouldn't recommend it.
I think this is what the doc is going to put my husband on the trial of or something like it.
While it may seem like a waste of time dumping 70-80kg is no small matter and can be a life saver particularly when the only alternative is high risk surgery.
It takes time to put it back on but habits can be changed it is about making the most of it. Even if it is a yoyo
Duromine is only one part of the solution. Even if your on it, it's not all you need to do. While I was on it for a month I lost 5kg, I then lost another 5 kilos the month after but I teamed that up with exercise and eating differently. I slept for 5 hours a night, I barely ate. I was still drinking but I also had more energy so was out walking a lot more. There is no quick fix for weight loss. I put it all on again a month after I lost the second five kilos. Now I'm doing it the healthy way. More fresh fruit, exercise and less processed foods. Everyone's life is different but everyone I know who's been on it has had the same results I have.
He is like that even without medication side effects he put the weight on from meds.
He currently weighs 180kg and it will kill him otherwise so for him its worth the risk he yoyo's by about 10 kg regardless
I don't recommend it either. I tried it and lost 30kgs. I couldn't sleep, I always fidgety and moody. I was advised to stop so I did, and then all the weight just piled back on. :(
I've been trying this other program for a while and it works for me.
they have smoothies as well and they're fantastic!! dont make me gag or anything.

I've lost weight, but Ive also started sleeping properly again. Im in my local support group as well and its really good. really encouraging. They have heaps of snacks to. This is the website - have a look and see if you like it. Heaps of women have done it and had good results.
unlike most, I lost weight and kept it off...until I had children ;-)
I was 25 and slipped a disc in my back - I was almost 50kg over weight. In 3 months I lost about 40kg of that. Yes, I slept less, I drank heaps of water, and I exercised a lot. I was on the 30mg tablets. I once accidently took one too late in the morning and didn't sleep at all that night! - so be very cautious of that.
I kept the weight off for 5 years! Then I had 3 children in 3 years - and with the last one I suffered PND which didn't stop for almost 2 years! So I was once again facing a position of being almost 40kg overweight. And with the pre-existing injury to my back, I knew it needed to come off - and fast. So back to the doctor. One month in and I'm 15kg lighter! First time I've been under 100kg in over 4 years. And once again there is lots of water, lots of exercise and very little sleep. But I know that once the three months are up, that is it...and I know I can keep it off again.
The trick is to use the drug as a tool to help you fitten up and create better habits. Make new habits of grabbing a glass of water when you feel like snacking during the day. Buy more fruit in your shopping. Exercise well and increase muscle tone. Many people use the drug as a cure, so they do not learn how to create new habits, meaning once the drug is stopped, old habits start up and the weight comes back.
When you are obese to the point that it is seriously hindering your quality of life, you need to take risks. Unfortunately being THAT far over weight, it isn't always a simple matter of eating less and walking more, because the body can easily go into a meltdown that creates further problems. I wish you and your hubby lots of progress in your journey. It is tough but it can be done!
