"Dance mum type of thing"

Hello :)

Today at my daughters netball game I overheard one of the other mothers making a degrading comment about my daughter. I am the first to admit that she isn't the most coordinated girl out there but she is trying. It's under 11's. But I was devastated. I wanted to say something but I didn't as I didn't want to cause a scene but I felt like I let my daughter down. She didn't hear it thank god but it makes me feel like we don't have a place in the team if this is what she thinks. Sorry I'm rambling.. I feel mother guilt for not sticking up for her, but am proud she is out there trying...

Don't feel guilty, she just needs you to believe in her. People like that other mother got where they are by tearing others down. As long as you build your daughter up they'll never be able to knock her down. She'll come across nastiness in her life, we all do but a strong foundation will help her cope.

Not too late to take her aside and have a word in private next time you see her. It was probably best you didn't make a scene because your daughter may have heard then and be upset and not want to play anymore
