Firstly they have to take you to mediation first. Secondly it there is no prior rekationship and both parents don't support a relationship then the likelihood is pretty small.
Yes, they can take you to mediation and if it is left unresolved it will go to court. If it does go to mediation, would definitely suggest asking to use a child contact centre for the visits. It's 2 hours max a week and fully supervised by qualified workers. A court would more than likely rule that decision anyway as it is generally in the best interest of the children to know their grandparents unless there is a high risk of danger to them in their care, which is where the CCC comes in.
