Has anyone sought Australian citizenship as a Kiwi spouse of an Australian? If so, did you have to do the health check? Other than HIV, TB etc what were they looking at?
I ask because I am overweight and have heard that sometimes that can prevent people passing health checks. Seems strange if it would as a Kiwi since I can already use the Australian health system on my SCV.
I have been living here for about a decade and married for seven years with a child. So I'm not worried on any other account. I know I need to lose weight but I guess I'm wondering whether I need to hold off on the application until then. It could be a long road and it has been a looooong time since I have been in the normal range, though I have been close. But you hear horror stories of Kiwi widows with Australian dependents struggling to get support. It is that scenario that really scares me and makes me want to bite the bullet and actually get citizenship and I want to do it sooner rather than later for my peace of mind.
I'd be interested in other people's experiences.
