Hi, my son is almost 5 and his foreskin doesn't look like it's starting to retract at all. I read it's common to not be until 18 but would this cause problems during puberty? I thought it would start to retract at 4 as that's when some other articles explain how it starts to retract and you can teach them how to clean it properly. Just want some advice and tips about what to expect and when I should worry?

Always talk to your GP opinions will vary greatly and it's hard to tell the truth from myth from word of mouth and the Internet
I have two boys. Ones foreskin retracted early (around 2-3) and we could pull it back to clean, and my other sons didnt come back until puberty started. Ive never actually seen it back but he did tell me that it happened, it was never a concern as he could always pee fine and never had any issues with cleanliness.
If your sons penis looks fine, he can pee completely out of it and its not red/sore then i think its fine. All boys are different and will develop at different times.
However if it looks like the foreskin is strangling the penis, he has trouble weeing or its sore then get a doctor to check it
Serious question. How do you even know? Are you trying to retract it? You are meant to leave it alone so not sure I would even know. Definitely no need to retract and clean it as per other comment
